Halloween is just around the corner, and there are many options for movies you can watch with your family! A movie night is a perfect holiday tradition, no matter what your children’s age is. When you make your movie list, the movies should be well-known and popular, so everyone knows what they're in for. In other words: no matter what kind of movie you like to watch on Saturday night at home—animated superhero blockbusters or romantic comedies—there's something on this list that'll make you and your kiddos happy.
Coraline
Coraline is a 2009 stop-motion animated fantasy horror film based on Neil Gaiman's novel of the same name.
The movie follows a girl who discovers an alternate reality similar to hers, except that everything is better. Her "other" parents have more time to spend with her, and there are three mysterious children whom she befriends. When Coraline decides to explore further, she finds that this world may not be what it seems.
The Addams Family
We won’t get too specific with this one–because there are dozens of versions! You can look through the differences and pick the best for your family! From the ones that have come out recently to the original, the Addams family always has a place in our hearts for Halloween.
Frankenweenie
Frankenweenie is a Tim Burton film based on his short film of the same name he made in 1984 as a student. The movie centers on a boy named Victor who brings his dog back to life after it is hit by a car.
Monster House
Monster House is a 2006 American 3D computer-animated comedy film. The story follows three teenagers who investigate a neighborhood house that is occupied by a strange, grouchy old man.
Hocus Pocus
Hocus Pocus is a 1993 comedy/horror film about three witches returning to life in Salem, Massachusetts. This is a Halloween classic, and the sequel comes out this year! Nearly thirty years after the release of the original.
Some Important Reminders Before Halloween.
One of the most important things to remember while trick or treating is car safety. It's easy to get distracted by all the excitement and forget about keeping an eye on the kids. Still, you must do it. Make sure they stay away from roads and vehicles and dress them in bright clothes so that cars can see them more easily.
Make sure your kids know how to cross the street safely, and don't let them cross between parked cars or into traffic. If there are no pedestrian crosswalks nearby, make sure they use a hand signal before crossing a road so drivers can see them more easily.
