Three Ways Back-To-School Season Is Different For Drivers in 2020

The kids are back in school and it’s a very unusual school year, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because we are all trying hard not to catch this virus, parents, teachers, kids, and school staff are all adjusting to the new normal.

Because education is so different during the COVID-era, we are seeing three ways that the back-to-school season is different for drivers in 2020. Here are three observations we are making here at Service Plus Automotive in Calcium, New York.

First, we should let you know that the majority of our auto repair team members are parents. So, we are going through these adjustments, too. Though things are different for the 2020/2021 schoolyear, we are finding some positive differences, which are:

  1. Hybrid Education:

Depending on which schools your children are attending, they could be doing 100% online instruction, or a mix of in-person classes and online classes. This hybrid education is allowing more students and parents to remain at home for the majority of the week. Because more people are staying at home, there is…

  1. Less Traffic:

Fewer people are on the road these days. Because everyone is encouraged to stay at home and shelter in place, fewer people are stuck in traffic jams. The number of cars commuting to work, to school, or to events is down. Less traffic also means that since drivers are commuting less, there is also less mileage being put on the average vehicle, lower gas consumption, and more batteries dying when the engine isn’t started up frequently enough to recharge them. But less traffic has its benefits, which include…

  1. More Flexibility to Travel with Kids:

Because the hybrid learning experience of online classes and in-person classes limited to specified days, and because there is less traffic on the road, this means the average family is able to go on more road trips! With the added flexibility, families are no longer limited to weekend-only road trips. Families can now enjoy 3- or 4-day weekends, depending on your school and work schedule.

You see, we try to look for the good in every situation. With the ability to work and learn from home, less wear and tear on most vehicles, and more people saving money because they’re not going out as much as they used to, it’s no surprise that road trips are on the upswing. It makes sense, doesn’t it?

Before you and the family hit the road, the Service Plus Automotive team encourages you to get a safety inspection for your vehicle first. We will visually inspect your vehicle, take pictures of any issues, and give you all the information you need to make intelligent decisions around your vehicle’s repair. Our top priority is your safety, and no one wants to find themselves stuck on the side of the road with a broken-down car.

At Service Plus Automotive, our goal is to provide the highest quality customer service and repair experience with certified and experienced team members, use of quality parts, and exceptional peace of mind warranty for each of our valued customers every time. To take advantage of our services, schedule an appointment before your road trip so we can help you and your family get the most out of your new adventure.
